The Reapers: A Thriller by John Connolly
Unfortunately, this is my least favorite in the Charlie Parker series so far, mostly because this book only features Parker briefly. The focus of The Reapers is Louis and Angel, Louis in particular. While I love Louis and Angel, I think I prefer them as secondary characters. For me, Parker is the driving force of Connolly’s novels. He’s broken, a man surrounded by pain and guilt and vengeance. Louis and Angel are more straightforward characters, less complex than Parker. I enjoyed learning more about how Louis evolved into a killer for hire (a Reaper), but I look forward to the return of Parker in the next novel.
