Missed Connections: Love, Lost & Found by Sophie Blackall
“We have only one life, and we rush through it. We make choices and follow paths and we don’t linger too long at crossroads. Moments of intimacy with strangers are minor detours we rarely explore, but those moments make us feel alive, and human, and part of something greater than ourselves.”
Sophie Blackall’s gorgeous illustrations truly capture the hope beauty of Missed Connections posts on craigslist. Her visual interpretations bring a certain feeling of nostalgia and whimsy to these encounters, encounters that we all experience. I’d seen some of Blackall’s Missed Connections art online before reading the book, and always wanted to purchase a print. The book was cheaper, and featured more illustrations, so I think it’s a steal. Blackall also has artwork featured in NYC subways, which brightens my day considerably.
Love this book, and I think you will, too. Check out Blackall’s art online for a treat!
